One of the best ways to start learning to read cards is to start with a gorgeous deck of Oracle Cards. There are literally hundreds of beautiful packs out there to choose from, and you just need to go for a deck that you love the look of and which really catches your attention.
Most oracle card decks come with a guidebook to show you the card meanings and offering suggestions for different ways to lay out the cards and read them. I like to select just one card and ask the question I want to know about and then receive the answer that I really need to hear at that time.
How to Use Oracle Cards
Choose a deck that catches your attention and 'calls out' to you.
Take some time to look through the cards, get to know them and try to feel the 'energy' they give off.
Set your intention for what you want to ask about. You can say something like ‘My intention is to receive guidance and intuitive advice about what it is I need to know, hear or see, and in the best way, for my highest good.’ Be clear about what you're asking for, think about about what it is you want an answer to and be honest with yourself. Then as you shuffle the cards, speak your intention either out loud or to yourself.
Once you feel you have shuffled the cards enough - and you can cut the deck if you like at this point - draw your card! Just go through the cards and intuitively feel which is the right card for you in that moment. You can pull a card from anywhere in the pack. Some people may draw a card straight from the top of the pack after shuffling, but just do it the way that feel best for you.
Use the guidebook to find the meaning of the card.. Then sit with that meaning, meditate on it and take what you need from it in that moment. The card you pull is not always the one you want to hear.. but it’s always the one that you need to hear!
